RESEARCH

My Brand design process starts by conducting extensive research into all areas of the company looking for strengths and weaknesses of the current brand. I do this by asking a series of questions which are designed to give me a full understanding of the current brand and what is required. This is one of the most important steps as it will define all aspects of the project.

CREATIVE BRIEF

This document contains a summary of the research gathered which includes the target audience, objectives, key values, mission statement, products, services and all applications. It also includes the project schedule,  budget, and file formats for delivery.

SKETCHING AND CONCEPTULIZING

The creative process begins with a series of thumbnail sketches to formulate ideas and explore possibilities. I wanted this logo to be strong, bold, modern and represent safety. Finding a common connection between the G and M that seemed to work quite i further developed on this idea as it reinforced the the idea of strength and connections made between scaffold. This was a defining moment in the project as this idea would be the base to build and create the logo from.

DIGITAL RENDITION

Using basic rectangles with curved edges to create letters forms that represent structure and strength key characteristics identified in the research phase. This font that carries all the attributes and values of GM access and can be used across the whole alphabet if needed. The A is a mirrored version of the G which adds a nice symmetry to the design . This unique and unified font with broken negative space and solid thick shapes resembles that of scaffold equipment and also supports the key values identified in the research phase.

FINAL LOGO

The colour pallete consists of a golden yellow and solid black. These colours were chosen as they are bright, bold and they can also be universally associated with safety, a perfect fit for GM Access. The tagline scaffold specialists provides information about the companies services to the viewer. As a final touch the ladder was added to provide a recognizable icon that can be associated with GM Access.

WHY BRAND IDENTITY IS IMPORTANT

When you first set up in business the single biggest challenge you face is getting people to notice that you’re out there. You can offer the best products and services in the world, at amazing prices, but nobody will buy them and if somebody does happen to stumble upon you and make a purchase, they may well forget who you are and never return. How can you solve this? By building your brand. Unlike simple product promotion, branding is all about you and what you have to offer. It goes hand in hand with your business reputation and is useful in building business relationships as well as connecting with customers. Brand recognition is a lot of what gives big businesses their power.
